In this village, monkeys from the forest are killed and eaten but pet monkeys are treated well. In fact, if a mother monkey is killed, then a mom from the tribe breastfeeds the orphaned baby monkey and brings it up as a pet. While I find this odd, and wouldn’t do it personally, I also find the sentiment beautiful: “whatever we take from the forest, we have to give back.”

Lucky little baby monkeys - sounds like they end up having a pretty good life.
